Today is the first day of the trek. We will start trekking from Yuksum to Bakhim (17 km, around 8 hours walk, altitude 2740 m). In the beginning it goes along the river Rathong Choo, Prek Chu, Medi Khola etc. through the forest. We will cross three rivers over the suspension bridges. We spend the night in this secluded spot. Overnight in camp.

Day 07  Bakhim – Tsokha:
Today  we will, depending on the weather and acclimatization, try and reach a small settlement Tshoka 3050 m, or go even farther uphill. A small temple along the route, visited by Nepalese believers can be seen. The distance is about 2 km ( around 1 hours walk ) from Bakhim to Tsokha,  not a very long one, but we need to gradually acclimatize to the altitude. Overnight in camp.

Day 08  Tsokha – Dzongri:
After breakfast we continue our hike to Dzongri (9km, around 7 hours trek, 4100 m altitude). We walk in the northwest direction and soon will have a splendid view of the complete Kangchenjunga. It is such an impressive gigantic mountain of rock and ice. We will have lunch at Phittang (3660 m) and further from there the path leads us through magnificent forests. Our eyes keep on wandering over to the steep ridges while we pass. Sometimes if the weather conditions are not so good, it can also snow here, but usually it is temperate. Overnight in camp.

Day 09  In Dzongri:
Today is a rest day at Dzongri. After the relatively rapid rise to about 4000m altitudes, a rest day is a good anecdote for acclimatization and fitness. In the morning there is a short hike to a nearby ridge. From here we can see the sun rise from behind the mountains and see its first rays on Kanchenjunga. When the sun finally reaches our camp, it gets really warm. During the rest of the day, we can relax around campsite or go for short exploratory hikes in the vicinity. Overnight in camp.

Here we get to have  a magnificent view of the mountains in the neighborhood. In the late afternoon if you feel like it there is still some time to visit the Jopine slopes allowing a magnificient view of the Kangchenjunga massif. Overnight in camp in Thansing 3900 m.
