Detailed Itinerary

Day 01 Departure Europe/USA Arrive Delhi:

Meet our tour-leader at the international airport departure terminal in Europe/USA and board premium airline, economy class flight to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, traditional welcome and meet the presidents guards local staff at the Indira Gandhi International airport; transfer and overnight in hotel.

Day 02 In Delhi:

Relax from the journey till the afternoon and start a half day sightseeing of Delhi.
We visit the Presidents Residence, Parliament House, India Gate, Raj Ghat, Red Fort and Jama Masjid. Overnight in hotel.

Day 03 Delhi - Srinagar:

Late morning transfer to the national airport and board flight for Srinagar (1700 m) the capitol of the inside a legendary houseboatState of Jammu & Kashmir. Transfer to Houseboats each with 3-4 double/twin bedrooms, attached baths, dining room and a drawing room. These were introduced in this form by British more than 2 centuries ago since Kashmir did not allow purchase of Land or real estate to any one who were not a sate subject. It is a very interesting and novel experience to live on one. They are beautifully decorated and exuberate the fresh aroma of Cedar (Deodar or great pine) wood. Late in the evening a small Donga (boat) party with folklore, music and dance. You will be served the world famous Kashmiri Wazwan (dinner) on the boat. Overnight in Houseboats.

Day 04 Sightseeing:

Full day trip to Gulmarg "meadow of flowers". It is also the world's highest golf course at 2650 m. We will also take a ride on the Gondola and visit the high altitude Alepather lake 3,843 m with ice floes in it. Gulmarg 52 km away is an excellent ski resort during winters. An excellent way to acclimitize to the Himalayan altitudes and our trek later. Overnight in houseboats in Srinagar.

Day 05 Sightseeing:

We will visit Pahalgam 96 km which is a base for many treks ( the 7100 m Nun/Kun Expedition can also be started from here). It is a beautiful mountain resort with sport amenities like trout fishing, river rafting, riding etc. Visit also untouched simple local Kashmiri villages enroute. Overnight in houseboats in Srinagar.

Day 06 Half Day City Sightseeing:

Early in the morning visit the vegetable market and boisterous vegetable vendors on the lake. Most of kashmirKashmir's vegetables are grown on floating gardens made by placing local weed mats and earth on a fram of woodens beams. Watering them is no problem at all. After breakfast a short tour of the Moghul Gardens. These were designed and laid down by the Moghuls who treated Kashmir as a retreat during the summers from the Monsoons and fierce heat of India. We shall visit Chesma Shahi (Royal Spring), Nishat and Shalimar gardens. Rest of the afternoon free for individual activities. Overnight in houseboats.

DAY 07  Srinagar – Leh:

Transfer to the airport board our flight to Leh (3500 m). We arrive in Leh and transfer to our hotel. Lehleh palace by night is a district (province) of the J & K State and the ancient capital of Ladakh. It has many imposing hilltop forts, palaces and monasteries which will be visiting. Having been situated on the southern trail of the legendary Silk Route, Leh has a colorful history and its position as a trading centre lives on to this day! All manner of goods from both India and China can be found in its colorful bazaar where we can wander around at our leisure. Overnight Hotel.

Day 08 In Leh Sightseeing:

Early in the morning after breakfast, proceed for sightseeing of the Leh area Monasteries. We visit Hemis, the largest and most influential Gompa of the Kargyukpa Buddhists, then after that Thiksey and on the way back back in the end we visit Shey Gompa. Enjoy the Indus valley in the lovely sunset. Drive back to Leh and overnight in hotel.

Day 09 Leh – Spituk – Zinchen :

(altitude 3600 m | 12 km | 5 hours)
Morning after breakfast we drive to Spituk, which is 10 km from Leh (around 20 minutes). We will visit small trek oreintation maptheYellow Hat Monastery in Spituk . In the mean time our trekking staff will load  the trekking equipment/gear/provisions on ponies and proceed. After our visit of the Gompa, we will proceed for the first camping place in Zinchen 4 to 5 hour walk. On the way we can have our lunch from our packed lunch packet, wherever we find a nice shady spot near some stream. The trail passes through barren countryside for about 3 hours until the Indus enters a narrow gorge where the Zinchen coming from the Zaskar range has its confluence with it. From here the trail climbs steadily through the Zinchen Valley, which is lined with trees, providing sufficient shade for a rest stop, before we reach the tiny village of Zinchen. Overnight in camp.

Day 10 Zinchen – Rumbak:

(altitude 3900 m | 9 km | 5 hours)
After breakfast our staff will pack the camp and we will proceed with our pack lunch to the next campladakh zanskar hidden valley views Rumbak, which is  about  9  km, and will take around 5 hours. We climb up to the small village of Zinchen, which consists of just 4 or 5 houses. Surrounded by beautiful rock formations we walk through the Hemis National Park. The deeper we walk  in this valley, the more spectacular it gets. We see the first snow-covered mountain peaks by this time. The national park is famous for its wildlife such as snow leopard, Tibetan great sheep, blue sheep, red fox, wild dog, urial (wild donkey), Ibex and marmots. On the way to the camp we will see/meet the local shepherds, as they watch over their grazing cattle. Overnight in camp in Rumbak.
